Waits-Mast, Pinot Noir Blanc, 2020
ANDERSON VALLEY || MENDOCINO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
In the heart of San Francisco you’ll find the Waits-Mast crew crafting and dedicate their entire portfolio to Pinot Noir from Mendocino’s Anderson Valley. Together Jennifer Waits, Brian Mast and their amazing winemaker, Shalini Sekhar, operate a small, focused production. With curiosity and exploration guiding their efforts, their line-up is a gorgeous spectrum of single-vineyard wines, with a little something for everyone. To best showcase the range of possibilities that their (and our) beloved Pinot Noir possesses, they’ve made this WHITE wine from Pinot Noir grapes. This is a winemaking approach we see traditionally in Champagne, known as Blanc de Noir, but a still white wine from red grapes is still rather rare. Now that’s the kind of adventure we’re here for. This wine has subtle reminders of its red grape origin in texture and weight but drinks much like its Burgundy counterpart, like a Chablis with an added layer of cool-girl edge and a central valley stone-fruit orchard in bloom.
